We Tackle the Most Complex Jobs and Quote Parts Others Reject

Because every bending job is unique, we take into account all project considerations including materials, finishing, custom work, and/or urgent delivery.  Our bending and assembly project quotes are turned around by seasoned engineers and estimators who confirm all aspects of your job.

Our design team figures out the best way to run your job first – and that’s why we deliver so many tube bending jobs that other shops turn away. Our services and assembly capabilities start below, but they don’t stop there. Want to talk to someone about a job, upload a file for quote or call us at 440.974.2500.

Specialized Tube Bending Capabilities

When you are building a specialized application, it requires precision tube bending to ensure a leak-proof installation. Threaded ends and brackets must be located accurately if the mating part is to be successfully coupled to the tube. The ends of the tube must be free of distortion from bending and be accurately sized to fit-up and seal correctly.

Precision Bending Technology has the in-house precision tube bending capability to create fixtures, tools and gauges that produce and check the critical attributes of your part. This ensures that the tubular part will fit and perform as designed.

Ensuring Quality with Photogrammetric Technology

In addition to “hard” tools, PBT employs Photogrammetric Technology to collect data from samples and production runs to develop predictive models which can yield insights into reasonable tolerances for any given size and type of material. Data AICON can also be transmitted to the CNC tube bending equipment to reverse engineer a sample part or fine-tune the bending program.

Types of Tube Bending

CNC Tube Bending

CNC Tube Bending adds a new level of speed and precision to Rotary Draw Bending. The impact of CNC Bending increases as the complexity of the tubular part increases. CNC equipment automatically manipulates the tube in order to precisely position the various bends relative to each other.

CNC Tube Bending is usually employed when a part contains more than two bends. Although it is suggested that all the bends in a part are designed around the same bend radius, the CNC equipment we employ has additional capabilities that allows mixing of bend radii in the same part.

The  CNC equipment automatically manipulates the tube to precisely position the various bends relative to each other. Our machine has additional capabilities that allow for mixing of the bend radii in the same part which means the bends in the part don’t have to have the same bend radius.

There are additional benefits relating to straight lengths required between bends that we will be happy to discuss with you if your design calls for bends that are very close together.

Our bending capabilities apply to a variety of materials, including stainless steel, brass, aluminum alloys, and more. Our CNC tube bending services are ideal for industries such as sanitary and food equipment, oil and gas, and construction.

Our engineers are available to discuss your design needs, especially those that require bends that are very close together.

Rotary Draw Bending

ROTARY DRAW BENDING

Our rotary draw bending technology employs mandrels and various dies to manage and control metal flow during the bending process. Rotary draw bending is a process in which a precision mandrel is positioned inside the tube, while a pressure die, wiper die, bend die, and clamp dies surround the outside of the tube. This provides a smooth, aesthetically pleasing appearance while maintaining the full diameter of the tube throughout the bend area.

This method finds application in fluid handling lines. It is often used in products when bend cosmetics are important and applications where extremely “tight” bend radii or small dimensional tolerances are desired. These attributes are unique to this type of bending and are not possible with other less controlled bending processes.

Rotary draw bending is not limited to tube and pipe. It can also be employed to bend extruded shapes, square and rectangular tube and pipe, and channel.

We have a wide selection of tooling along with our in-house CNC machining capabilities. In addition, we can produce special tooling quickly to meet your specific project needs.

Additional Treatments

In addition to tube bending, we have more capabilities to develop a complete component solution.  These capabilities include:

  • Swaging
  • Flaring
  • Coping
  • Beading
  • Drilling
  • Flattening
  • Machining
  • Milling
  • Notching
  • Piercing
  • Punching
  • Slotting
  • Threading
  • Welding

We also can create Fabricated Tube Assemblies to fit the needs for your end product.

Precision Tube Bending
Certain applications require precision tube bending that causes the need for accurately threaded brackets and ends. In these projects, ensuring tubes mate together precisely is key. The ends of the tube must be free of distortion. Our precision tube bending process uses tools and gauges that help create the desired outcome in fit and performance.

Roll Bending
Roll bending, as the name suggests, uses a machine with 3 rollers, known as a jig. Custom bending can be used to bend both sheet metal and metal bars.

Roll bending works by placing the tube into the jig and then manually lowering and pressing the middle roller onto the tube, shaping it into the desired custom shape.

This form of custom bending is good for some circular designs.

Press Bending
The simplest and most common form of custom tube bending is press bending.

This is not the most precise form of custom tube bending, however. The process involves pressing a “bend die” against the tube or pipe to create the desired shape.

SELECTING THE RIGHT METAL MATERIALS FOR CUSTOM BENDING PROJECTS

One of the most important parts of the process of custom metal bending is the selection of the right material. It is as crucial as the bending process itself.

Precision Bending, a leader in the field, emphasizes the importance of material selection for the success of any custom bending project. We take a look at why material choice is vital and how it impacts the outcome of a bending project.
